Golf courses near Fernandina Beach

Golfing is one of the most popular things to do for Fernandina Beach residents because some of the best golf courses in Northeast Florida are in close proximity to the town, such as the Fernandina Beach Golf Club, Golf Club of Amelia Island, and Amelia River Golf Club. A few other options are a little further south but well worth the trip such as the Ocean Links, Oak Marsh and Long Point at Amelia Island Plantation. Some of the courses are public and others are private, with more information on each option below.

The Fernandina Beach Golf Club

The Fernandina Beach Golf Club located at 2800 Bell Melton Road is a top golf attraction on Amelia Island and it offers three well maintained and scenic 9-hole golf courses. These three courses are challenging for all skill levels and are open to the public. Each course measures over 3000 yards and the greens here are impeccably maintained throughout the year so that you can enjoy a round any day it isn’t raining. Be sure to stop at the Fernandina Beach Golf Clubhouse which was opened in 2000 and offers a relaxing lounge area, dining facilities as well as a fully stocked pro shop.

Amelia River Golf Club

Amelia River Golf Club located at 4477 Buccaneer Trail is a semi-private course that is known for well-maintained greens that are challenging for golfers of every experience level. This scenic par-72 course was designed by Tom Jackson and worth checking out if you’re looking for something to really challenge your golfing skills. This course is known for its smooth and large TifEagle greens and rolling fairways that are carved around a forest of pines, sabal palms, oaks and wax myrtles. At a total of 6,800 yards from the back tees, the fairways are open and wide, giving a feeling similar to traditional Scottish golf courses.

Golf Club of Amelia Island

The Golf Club of Amelia Island is located at 4700 Amelia Island Parkway and offers incredible scenery along the Atlantic shoreline with a variety of different membership options to choose from. The course was designed by PGA tour pros Gene Littler and Mark McCumber and offers a great challenge for skilled golfers along with forward tees for amateur golfers. The par-72 course is 6,692 yards from the back tees and offers large greens with wide fairways. Amelia Island Plantation Courses

The Amelia Island Plantation golf courses include the Ocean Links Course, Oak Marsh Course, and Long Point Course, all of which are located within a reasonable distance from Fernandina Beach toward the south end of the island. The Long Point course was completed in 1987 by Tom Fazio and features narrow fairways, plenty of natural hazards and sloping greens. It is 6,775 yards from the back tees and is considered to be one of the best golf courses in Florida with its difficult play and incredible scenic views of the Amelia River and salt marshes.
